Celsius Bun Run Cycling Route

There’s lots of ways to ride to Windsor, but in our opinion this one is the best. If you can face getting up early enough to get out of London before the traffic starts to pick up, then this route is brilliant from start to finish. Start by heading out of London through Richmond park, and then its all easy and fast from Kingston bridge to Hampton, Walton bridge, and Chertsey. After Chertsey you have a (very) short climb and you’re onto quiet roads until Virginia water. Some people will go around Windsor great park, this way has a bit of a climb and you might get a few impatient drivers. A nicer option is to head through the park where you’ll get beautiful scenery and views towards Windsor. Once you’re out of the park its time to pick up the pace. You’ll have a short ramp and then a long and slight downhill. We always use the line across the road with the 2 towers either side as the finish line for a sprint. Then head into Windsor for a bun and a flat white at the cinnamon café.
On the way back you have two options depending on how much time you have and how tired you’re feeling.
Way home 1 (as on the GPX):
The more scenic option is to head back up the way you came into Windsor and turn back into the park. You’ll take a different route through the park and leave it on the far side. After this you’ve got quiet roads for 15km. Once you get to Chertsey there isn’t much to write home about. But it's not too far from until you’re back into London.
Way home 2:
The second option is shorter and faster, but you may find that you can’t ride side by side due to angry drivers who will insist on overtaking, but won’t stay ahead for long. Take the first exit on the roundabout on the way out of Windsor and head a long a long straight road. Cross your fingers and hope for a tailwind because that will set the tone for the whole way home. You pretty much follow the river all the way back, there’s lots of opportunity to go fast – but unless you are very lucky with the traffic this way back probably won’t be as social.
