Design Story
The design of our jersey serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact that oil spills can have on our oceans. The intricate pattern pays tribute to the unpredictable movements of spilled oil on water, symbolising the resilience of marine creatures that have endured the consequences of these catastrophic events.
When oil spills occur in the ocean, they can have a profound impact on the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem. Even small chemical spills, such as during ship refuelling, can cause damage, particularly when they occur near beaches, mangroves, or wetlands rich with biodiversity. Larger spills, which are ecological catastrophes, can destroy entire marine ecosystems. While we may consider these events rare, there were over 60 large oil spills from tankers between 2010 and 2020, resulting in approximately 150,000 tonnes of oil spilt in just nine incidents.
Oil spills harm and kill ocean life in three ways: fouling, direct toxicity, and disrupting photosynthesis. Fouling occurs when oil coats plants and animals, leaving birds unable to fly and fur-bearing mammals’ insulation dysfunctional. Toxicity impacts wildlife when it is unintentionally consumed, leading to tragic health problems like heart damage, stunted growth, weakened immune systems, and death. The thick layer of oil on the water's surface impedes the crucial process of photosynthesis, depriving marine plants of the energy they need to sustain entire food chains. This can lead to the starvation and death of many marine species. The damage is not limited to the marine environment; oil spills can also have a significant impact on human health and the economy. The contamination of beaches, water sources, and fishing areas can disrupt local economies that rely on tourism and fishing, causing lasting damage.
Attempts to clean and rehabilitate wildlife affected by oil spills are often difficult to carry out. Smaller animals are often overlooked, and larger animals like whales are too difficult to recover. The vast majority of spills are never fully remediated, leaving nature to slowly degrade the oil over years, if not decades, further damaging the environment.
To protect our oceans, we must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and advocate for policies that prioritise ocean conservation. By doing so, we can make a meaningful difference in preserving the delicate balance of our oceans and the precious marine life that inhabits them.

Fit, quality, finish all comparable to the top end jerseys I have worn and for a good chunk less. Custom kit design perfectly fit the brief and have had many compliments at cafe stops.
Great fit, great materials. Really sleek material, even better knowing the eco pledge of the brand! Hoping to reorder as custom kit again next year
Has a great fit and the fabric is lovely. It also washes really well. Highly recommend.
Really rate this jersey. Bought 2 of them as part of Custom club kit and they are both doing really well - now into second summer. Fit is great, pockets well accessible, and overall jersey is v breathable.
Ordered Club DRV jersey - Solid jersey; nice cut, good materials, and looks good! Really happy and would recommend highly.
